How is a QUICK TURN built?
The QUICK TURN is a slant-bed horizontal CNC turning center with a tool turret — tool magazine and B-axis milling head are INTEGREX territory. The current 200/250 runs an integral motorized main spindle, no belts, pulleys or gears — per Mazak less vibration, better roundness and surface finish, more power at the cutting edge. From SQT via QT NEXUS to QUICK TURN SMART, spindle design, bore, bar capacity, speed and power vary by size and model year.
Which tooling interface does the turret use?
On the 200 and 250 sizes the tool carrier is a drum turret with non-lift indexing. Simpler sub-series such as the QT PRIMOS run fewer stations, and whether every station accepts live tooling depends on the turret and configuration level. Tooling costs are decided by the tooling interface — which is not encoded in the model suffix. The live-tool drive also differs by generation: a dedicated milling spindle on some, a toothed-belt drive on others.

What do M, Y and S on the nameplate mean?
The configuration levels read straight off the nameplate and define the application range:

Important when assessing a machine: the sub-spindle replaces the tailstock, so MS and MSY machines have none. Long shafts between centers need the tailstock variant; finishing the rear face in the same setup needs the sub-spindle.
The Y-axis is a short-stroke axis, not machining-center travel.
Which MAZATROL generation is fitted?
All QUICK TURN models run MAZATROL conversational programming and EIA/ISO side by side, but the versions span decades — the generation is decisive. Within the NEXUS line several MATRIX versions occur by model year; without nameplate and control display, the generation cannot be determined. Thermal compensation, collision checking in manual mode and acceleration control also depend on model year and control version — we list them per machine.

Which variant fits your part mix comes down to three questions above all: bar capacity, milling off the spindle centerline (C- and Y-axis), and rear-side machining in a single setup (sub-spindle).
Frequently asked questions about the Mazak QUICK TURN
How do I tell which MAZATROL control a used QUICK TURN is running?
Reliably, only from the nameplate and the control display on the machine itself — the model designation alone isn't enough. Within the QT NEXUS line, MATRIX, MATRIX NEXUS and MATRIX NEXUS 2 all occur depending on model year. Early QT machines run T-Plus or T32, the SQT generation runs FUSION 640T, the QUICK TURN SMART runs MAZATROL SMART, and the current lines run SmoothG, SmoothC or SmoothEz. We document the actual control version for every machine individually, because program migration, post-processors and spare-parts availability all depend on it.
How is the condition of a used Mazak QUICK TURN inspected?
Every machine goes through a technical inspection with full documentation. On this series we look specifically at the points that get expensive: condition and running noise of the main spindle; runout, backlash and indexing behavior of the drum turret; function and coolant supply of the live-tool stations; C-axis positioning; on MS and MSY machines, the part transfer between main and sub-spindle; and the condition of the X, Z and Y guideways. If the machine is still under power — at our facility or at the previous owner's — you can watch it running before you buy; we'll tell you for each machine what's possible.
What warranty do I get on a used Mazak QUICK TURN?
Scope and duration are agreed in writing for each machine before you buy: the offer states what is guaranteed and what isn't. The basis is the inspection report — whatever is documented there becomes part of the agreed specification. In the commercial used-machinery trade, selling with warranty excluded is standard practice; where that applies to a machine, we tell you explicitly before the contract is signed. Also settled up front and in writing: the payment schedule, machine acceptance and, for international buyers, customs clearance and export documentation.
Can I still get spare parts for an older QT NEXUS or SQT?
For the mechanical assemblies, spare-parts supply is generally not an issue. It gets more critical with the control electronics of older generations: FUSION 640T and early MATRIX versions are considerably harder to source than MATRIX NEXUS 2 or Smooth. We tell you before you buy what the parts situation looks like for the specific machine and record it in the inspection report. Through our worldwide network, we also have access to used parts from machines of the same generation.
What's the difference between a QUICK TURN and an INTEGREX — is the QUICK TURN enough for me?
The difference lies in the tool carrier and kinematics. The QUICK TURN works with a turret, live tooling, a C-axis and a short-stroke Y-axis at the turret; a tool magazine and B-axis remain reserved for the INTEGREX class. The INTEGREX has a B-axis milling/turning spindle with an automatic tool changer and magazine. Rule of thumb: the QUICK TURN is for turned parts with secondary milling operations — flats, slots, cross-holes and threads off the spindle centerline. As soon as you need five-sided or simultaneous multi-axis machining, you're in INTEGREX territory. What counts is the specification of the specific machine — we'll assess it with you based on your part drawings.
How do shipping and installation work?
We handle shipping, installation and commissioning as a single package — within Germany and worldwide. That covers dismantling, loading, insurance, export documentation and customs clearance, sea-freight packaging where the route requires it, and recommissioning at your site. For planning, we need your floor-space, foundation and utility-connection details early on; across the QUICK TURN sizes, the footprint differs noticeably between short and long bed and with a bar feeder or gantry loader.
